WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?

G’Day, my name is Mike Johns and I live ‘Down-Under’ in Australia where, along with my wife and two teenagers, I enjoy all that this wonderful country has to offer.  On this new website, I share my honest opinion (good and bad) on the SIX FIGURE MENTORS and the DIGITAL EXPERTS ACADEMY or SFM/DEA. Hopefully, you can get a better idea of what it is all about without all the sales pitch!

Being a member since February 2016, I have gained enough experience to help guide you through the process which for me, has been an exciting yet daunting learning experience.  I am out of my comfort zone but loving every moment. Please contact me if you have any questions and I will be happy to reply as soon as I can.

In a nutshell, what the “Mentors” offer is an EDUCATION PACKAGE showing you how to harness the power of the internet to either get your personal message ‘out there’, sell your goods or services (or promote anyone else’s for that matter) and also gives you an opportunity to become an ‘affiliate’ of their own education programs, i.e. if you persuade someone else to join you will receive commision (this is the business side of the “system”).

The Mentors teach you how to become proficient in running your own ONLINE BUSINESS(es) with a view to creating a lifestyle of your choosing and hopefully eventual financial freedom. That’s right, they show you how to become an INTERNET ENTREPRENEUR and set yourself free from that mundane 9-5 rat race you may have become too familiar with!  Want to spend more time with your loved ones instead of your boss? Then you may well have found the right place.

You may have already heard of the SFM /DEA through numerous adverts on Facebook and YouTube. These ads may sound fantastic but don’t believe the hype!

This is not a get rich quick scheme. It is a program that teaches you to release your entrepreneurial creativity and develop your own sustainable internet business that you can operate on your time and your terms. Would you need to put time and effort into your current job to be successful? – Of course, you would! This system is no different! The more you put into it, the more you get out of it!

I am committed to helping you work smarter not harder!

This photo is of me in 1989, qualifying as a dentist. Do I think advise my kids to get a “regular job”? No, as I am convinced there are new ways to make a living in this booming digital era. You just need people to point you in the right direction!

So do you want to spend more time with your loved ones instead of your boss? Then you may well have found the right place.

So is the SFM right for YOU?

Is it free – No Is it easy – No Is it a get rich quick scheme – No Will it be given to you on a plate – No Do you need a degree in computer literacy – No Do you need to bother your friends and family – No  Does it involve ‘pyramid selling’ or ‘multi-level marketing’ schemes? -No

Is it scary, daunting, exciting, rewarding, fun and fulfilling? – HELL YES!

Is it worth it?  – Look at it another way… What value do you place on your family’s financial freedom?

Only you can answer that question!

EXPLORE Your Potential

Everyone has so much potential to create a better life for themselves but either think they are not smart enough or are just plain lazy. I was both, but since becoming a member of SFM, I have a renewed vitality for life and developed a taste for what is out there.

My Mentors have come to show me that there is more to life than the monotonous 9-5 workday, and that I need to open my eyes to the explore the untapped possibilities that the World Wide Web has to offer.

This is the internet era and make no mistake, there is a booming digital economy waiting for your creativity.

DISCOVER Your Talents

We all have our own individual talents, but ask yourself if you actually use them to better your life, either emotionally or financially.  We do not have to be the best sportsman or next Einstein, but what I am talking about is the individual skills the ordinary person has picked up through life. Come on a journey to discover how you can put your own talents to work.

Share your ideas to enrich other people’s lives and give value to society. Sounds corny but you will be surprised what rewards you will find when you try to give, rather than receive!

The Mentors show you how to reflect on your own skillset and discover how to reach your individual potential.

ACHIEVE Your Goals

With the help of my Mentors, I have explored what I could possibly do to change my life and discovered how to put it to work.

All that remains is to reap the rewards of a different kind of labour. One where I can choose how I work, when I work, and above all, where I work.  All I need is a laptop, an Internet connection and my imagination.

My personal goal is to spend more time with my family, by designing the lifestyle that I want, and not the one I have been conditioned to live!

Why not make a start on designing your ideal life…

WHO AM I?

My name is Mike Johns and I was born in Wales (United Kingdom) where I was brought up on a diet of lamb and rugby! I emigrated to Australia in 1992 and currently work as a dentist in the small, beach-side City of Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia.  If you suffer from insomnia, then click the button below to take you to an extensive biography of my life so far. This is on my “authority site” which was created with the help of my Mentors. It will give you an idea of what can be achieved by someone who is, by no means, computer or social-media savvy!

Being trained in only one thing for my professional career (dentistry), I have become disillusioned with the whole scenario of travelling to work each day, being hated by most patients, then returning home tired and cranky and not having enough quality time for my wife and family. Being on call, and feeling guilty if I pinch a week off from work from time to time, is not the life I want for my family.

My options were to specialise in a specific field of dentistry (which would involve another three years of unpaid full-time study) or carry on carrying on! There was, however, one more option – to think outside the square!

Browsing the internet, I found the guys from SFM (Six Figure Mentors) and DEA (Digital experts Academy). Their ‘spiel’ somehow struck a chord and I was fascinated with the idea of being able to learn a new business skillset at my own pace, whilst still keeping my day job!

My goal was, and still is, to gain enough knowledge and skill to substitute my day job for something just as fulfilling, but that does not tie me to one chair in one clinic in one town!

I want to know how to free up my time and my life!

Why I became a member of the SFM and DEA

I am always thinking of new things to make or do but never had the know-how or direction to follow these ideas to fruition. For many years, I wished to create an alternative business which does not tie me down to one spot.  All the “get-rich-quick” schemes were obviously too good to be true and actually learning how to build my own website, to promote anything, was just a pipe dream and something that I would “get around to” someday! Deep down, I knew this would never happen!

Enter Stuart and Jay… After viewing their free 7-day video series, I was inspired to get off my arse and do something about it! They were offering everything I was searching for, all in one place!

I hurriedly gained an understanding of what they were trying to teach and more importantly, how they could assist me to get my own ideas and thoughts out into the binary chaos we fondly call the “World Wide Web”!

I HAD MY DOUBTS THOUGH…….

At first, I thought who on earth were these flashy dudes boasting of their financial success. It sounded like a scam, so I spent the next few months (after viewing their videos and sales pitch), researching all the reviews on the SFM, DEA, Stuart and Jay.  Hopefully, you can shortcut these reviews after reading this site! The fact that you are reading this is proof that it is no scam and indeed this is the second website I have created from scratch since starting. I will tell you about the first in a few moments.

These guys could quite gladly sit back in one of their mansions sipping cocktails all day and reflecting how good their laptop lifestyles are OR… they can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars, and an enormous amount of time and energy, to provide people like you and me, the modern skill-set needed to succeed online!

What I found so attractive about the program or system (call it what you like), was that it is a ‘one-stop-shop’!  From the step by step tutorials, mentorship calls and weekly interactive webinars, to the technical setup and extensive community support. It has everything in one place, which saves valuable time and frustration!

I realised that many people would be attracted to the prospect of financial gain, but my personal objective was to promote my own ideas and thoughts via my first website… Quizadentist.com.  So I took the plunge and invested in the training course. Check out what can be achieved in a short time here.

The following photos show the characters from the program, that I have come to know and trust, like family members. What I found remarkable, is that instead of hiding behind a computer webcam, these Mentors travel the World to provide personal coaching or “Momentum Days“. The photos were taken at my first event in Brisbane, Australia.

I was so surprised to discover on the day, that the two co-founders, Jay and Stuart and their team (people I only got to know via the online webinars and tutorials) were actually there in person! I had no idea they would be turning up on the other side of the World to engage us in person. It was a bit like meeting Richard Branson at a Virgin Airline lecture or Bill Gates at a computer update seminar!

I discovered that these events are held regularly in the US, Canada and the UK as well as here in Australia! Please take advantage of them, even if you are on the Free Trial as they will change the way you think about Life, the Universe and Everything!!

So the Mentors are real, I am real and this is real!

STUART ROSS

STUART ROSS

CO-FOUNDER

Stuart Ross is a charming, self-made entrepreneur from the UK. He and Jay Kubassek have formed a partnership that enables people like me and you, to find their voice or presence on the World Wide Web. Stuart has taken basic, well-known principles of marketing and creatively used the power of the Internet to build a very successful career. He is now in a position to show us how to achieve our own goals.

You will see in the 7 DAY FREE VIDEO SERIES here on the FREE TRIAL that he is a smooth talker with the ‘gift of the gab’, but don’t be fooled by the suave exterior. This guy has worked bloody hard to get where he is today and I am just so happy to be able to gain from his experience (and mistakes).

Having nothing to prove, Stuart is passionate about showing others how to be just as successful.  One day he may even be able to afford a pair of socks!

JAY KUBASSEK (and me!)

JAY KUBASSEK (and me!)

CO-FOUNDER

Jay is the other half of the duo. American in origin and in his own words a ‘late developer’, but oh how he has developed! Meeting up with the like-minded Stuart Ross, they have never looked back. Whilst Stuart is the hands-on marketing guru, Jay seems to me, to be the “big picture” guy.  He is the brains behind the DEA or Digital Experts Academy. Taking the skills you learn from Stuart and showing us just how to implement them in today’s digital world. His inciteful webinars are thought-provoking and brought to us with a great sense of humour – sorely needed in such a demanding and cut-throat business!

You must check out his orientation workshops on the FREE TRIAL, as they are the key to understanding the whole system. These  LIVE and INTERACTIVE  webinars are just a small portion of the enormous amount of material available to you on their site. As a trial member, you will also have access to all the information and facilities over the 30 day period, and I encourage you to take advantage of the recorded versions of these workshops.

JOHN JACKSON aka JJ

JOHN JACKSON aka JJ

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

This larger-than-life chap hails from Texas in the good old US of A!

He is the gel that binds Stuart and Jay together. Extremely inciteful and reflective of his humble beginnings, JJ, as he is affectionately known, leads the weekly “WAKE UP” calls. Live, interactive video calls that are available to all members. If you need to feel better about yourself then listen to JJ extol the virtues of peoples’ success stories and exude compassion when listening to the struggles that many members are going through in life.

He is the big Teddy Bear that just keeps on hugging! And yes he is huge!

GUY & ILAN FERDMAN

GUY & ILAN FERDMAN

ELITE MENTORS

You will meet the Ferdman brothers if you invest in the “Elite” level membership. They are experts on Facebook and other social-media advertising.

Two successful entrepreneurs in their own right, Guy and Ilan bring a unique perspective on motivation and work ethics. With their no-nonsense and often blunt approach to coaching, they get members to think outside the box and dispense with our self-absorbed attitude for spoon feeding. Bottom line is, they teach you how to “figure shit out” for yourself!

They have a series of live interactive webinars which are repeated every few months with updated information particularly with respect to compliance issues. This is extremely powerful information and keeps you ahead of the pack. I do recommend this course.

JAY WILLIAMS

JAY WILLIAMS

TECHNICAL GURU

You will come to know Jay’s face and voice very quickly. He is responsible for most of the teaching videos with technical tips and tricks. He is extremely approachable and is passionate about helping others understand the intricacies of setting up your website(s) and affiliate links.

Technology changes so quickly that the SFM/DEA pride themselves in keeping on top of the changes in your advertising and website compliance issues.

For the Elite Members, Jay runs a four-part setup course which repeats every few months to keep up with this everchanging pace of technology. Each webinar is live and interactive and your chance to pick his brains directly (sounds gruesome but he enjoys it!)

JUSTIN WOOLF

JUSTIN WOOLF

LEADERSHIP AND BUSINESS CONSULTANT.

Justin has an uncanny knack for making you understand what makes your personal strengths outweigh your weaknesses.

Justin’s humble demeanour belies his remarkable business acumen.  He does not seem like a go-getter who has developed multi-million dollar business until you really listen to what he calmly has to say!

His “Mastermind” live webinars for Elite Members are not to be missed. His slow but considered approach is both effective and meaningful. I like his style, quiet and reflective yet always considered and inciteful.

Basically, he makes you think!

GREG & FIONA

GREG & FIONA

DEA GOLD MENTORS

Seasoned ‘Laptop Lifestylers Travellers’, Greg and Fiona hail from Aotearoa or the land of the long white cloud (New Zealand).

They are very approachable, personal coaches for DEA “Gold” members.  Being only a Skype call away,  no matter where they are on the planet,  they will advise on any issues related to marketing your brand or your website or yourself!

They have been there and done that, so feel free to benefit from their vast experience and learn from their mistakes!

DANIELLE WILSON

DANIELLE WILSON

MARKETING COACH

Danielle brings her leadership qualities to her Marketing Blueprint sessions. Live, interactive webinars that invite members to tell their story and see how Danielle can help improve their marketing and promotional skills, often in fine detail.

These lessons concentrate on long-term personal development rather than short-term technical know-how and are essential to keep your mindset ahead of the competition.

Entrepreneurship

This term is bantered around like everyone knows what it means!

The dictionary definition is the “act of setting up a business, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit”.

Most people, myself included, have been seduced by this sexy french term, but fail to realise that to make any sort of profit, there will be a degree of risk!  Now, ‘risk’ can be defined as “exposing someone or something to the possibility of danger, harm or loss”.

So, are you in harm’s way…..

Given that there is usually no physical harm from typing on a laptop whilst sipping cocktails on the beach (unless you have too many), most of any perceived risk is going to be financial. However, as in my case, a fair chunk of psychological risk was incurred my wife took some persuading!

So rest assured no physical harm will come to you but in order to bring your ideas to fruition, you must be prepared to invest both time and money!

If not, then this entrepreneurial venture may not be for you! Just return to your 9-5 job but don’t complain that you wish you were doing something else!

Someone who claims to be an entrepreneur is someone who usually thinks outside the box, has original ideas and is not afraid to tell anyone about them! Above all, they act on their impulses or gut feelings rather than sit back and listen to people saying “oh you won’t be able to do that”, or “dream on”!

Take a moment to look at what Stuart and Jay have achieved. They have taken the tried and tested method of affiliate marketing (which has been a proven way to create income for many years) and then taken it to another level by creating an education platform or ‘one-stop-shop’,  to teach others how to do the same. This shows the entrepreneurial genius of the guys at work. Yes, by becoming a member of the SFM, you are making a lot of money for them, but they took the risk in investing hundreds of thousands in a system that only they believed would be successful. It is this ‘self-belief’ that is so important for success.

If you embark primarily to resell or promote the SFM education or marketing products and courses, it may make you an entrepreneur by definition, but I believe that true entrepreneurs set themselves apart from affiliate marketers, by how they think!

Here are the five qualities I suggest you need to possess to become an entrepreneur:

  1. The ability to think originally and outside the square.
  2. The ability to set goals, whether daily, weekly monthly or annually.
  3. The ability to take consistent action. ‘Consistency’ being the important factor. Remember that imperfect action is far better than perfect inaction!
  4. Not afraid to fail.
  5. Possess self-belief

By their own admission, Jay and Stuart have failed a lot over the years, so why are they different from the rest? – Simple… they have the mindset of never giving in. The following is my go-to-song if I am feeling overwhelmed…..(Ok, it may be lyrically challenged but still puts me in a better mood!)

If you want to stand out from the crowd and take your original brand or product to the world then the SFM is ideal for you. However, you may wish to master the more advanced marketing and promotion courses. These are available in the DEA GOLD, PLATINUM and BLACK memberships where you will gain unprecedented access to self-made millionaires and entrepreneurs. You will personally be able to pick their brains, so why reinvent the wheel when you can learn directly from the Masters themselves!

Please bear in mind that these courses are not for the faint-hearted and involve higher financial risks. However, this may be just what you need at your stage of the journey.

Education

The main benefit of learning online is that you can take your classroom and teachers with you 24/7 and you can choose to learn at your own pace.

I find I have to be in the correct mood or head space to learn!  I often have times when I just do not care about the Mentors and my new business venture and would rather go fishing. Getting the balance right is difficult (being a family man with a full-time job) but is paramount for success!

If you give a man a fish, you will feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you will feed him for life!

Do you want to come fishing with me?

Overwhelm is probably the most frustrating feeling you will experience when you start your SFM venture. There is so much information available to members it is understandable that you will not know where to start.

When I went to University in Bristol (many moons ago!) and remember my first few days, spent in awe of the ‘Harry Potter-esque’ buildings, the historical significance of the institution and of course, the size of the curriculum! I thought ‘how on earth was I going to learn all that, but then thankfully realised, I have 5 years in which to complete the task! Phew!

Wills Hall, Bristol University, UK

What is my point? Well, in the first few weeks of becoming a member of the SFM, I had the same feeling of ‘overwhelm’ after realising how much information is available, and how much I have to learn. The Mentors encourage you to take action and “you too can be making money in just 60 days”!  Bullshit right!

I also felt pressured into getting my ads out there as soon as possible so that I can start earning commissions (and of course make more money for them!). All well and good if your primary focus was to make money, but again how can you acquire the skills and knowledge to do this in just 60 days! If it were that easy then everyone would be doing it!

So I took a step back. Thought about why I signed up (time and financial freedom) and reassessed my position.

I am privileged in the fact that I currently have a full-time job albeit one that I wish to cease. It keeps my head above water and we cannot complain. People who are either, unemployed, retrenched or need to change their job are in a different boat altogether. If you are in this situation then the SFM is ideally suited. You may be able to take advantage of the time you have, to fast-track your learning experience and maximise your potential sooner. It may be the case that you can indeed, take up the 60-day challenge!

Ideally, treat the coursework and learning process like a 9-5 job to start with! Set yourself strict work hours, until the income takes off and you are more comfortable with your newfound flexibility. The whole system is geared up for those who wish to take the bull by the horns, so make sure you take action daily. The more work you put into learning and, more importantly, taking action, the quicker you will see the benefits. It is a simple scenario, and remember, you are now running a business for yourself

If however, you are in my boat (alas not fishing), where I have to appear at work daily, then return home to ‘domestic bliss’ with two teenagers (yeah right- at least the dog is pleased to see me), then you may have to take a slower approach and not worry about being pressured into making money now. That will come with time and dedication, but importantly, at your pace and not the Mentors! The digital world is not going away so I am learning the skills for longevity in the business and not any get-rich-quick reasons.

The SFM does not condone the use of illegitimate advertising practices and go out of their way to make sure members know how to build compliant websites and practises. After all, it is their “brand” that they have built up to do not want any unscrupulous people ruining it for everyone else. If Messrs Google, Yahoo and Facebook get miffed with any member it could affect the standing of the whole system!

Why I think the education we receive is second to none is the fact that it is so contemporaneous. Many of the courses are run every 6 months fresh. This is because the digital world is changing so quickly and what many believe was compliant and working 6 months ago, may not be what is necessary at the moment. Try getting this from a University education where so many practices are out of date before you qualify! I found that I learned more practical skills in the first year of qualifying than I did in the previous 5 years as an undergraduate! Don’t tell my first patients that though!

The huge support team behind the SFM and DEA, constantly update the site, so you have access to cutting-edge technologies and practices, especially with respect to changes in social media trends. In effect, they keep you ahead of the pack, and having that edge may make all the difference in this cut-throat business. Many “free” companies also have good individual knowledge but just do not have the resources and the infrastructure to provide this level of support.

Modular learning

Initially, there is a fair amount of comforting spoon-feeding, but as you progress, what you learn is up to you. All the information is there, but you obviously cannot learn everything at once, so a clever series of Teaching Modules has been designed to enable you to enjoy a  more structured learning experience. You will be required to complete one module at a time before unlocking the next level. This has been developed to minimise the “overwhelm” factor which, as discussed, most people will experience. If you are already an experienced marketer you can fly through many of the modules and quickly get up to speed with the more advanced courses, but for us novices, the structured step-by-step learning modules are ideal.

Teaching you a ‘can-do’, positive mindset is key in the beginning and although you can fall back on their wonderful support team, they try to foster an ethos of standing on your own two feet and “figuring shit out” for yourself. This gives you the independence you need to become a true entrepreneur!

The Mentors also encourage you to not bite off more than you can chew. Such as becoming experts in one platform at a time eg, facebook, or youtube, depending on what you are keen on following, rather than spreading yourself thin and not achieving much.

Earn whilst you learn

There is no College, TAFE, or University at the moment that I am aware of, that you could potentially make money whilst performing the coursework as you attend!

Traditionally, you pay your annual course fees, accommodation and living costs, then hope to qualify many years later. Only then do you start looking for a job to repay your last 5 years expenses (which could amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars)!

Alternatively, you can sit at home with a laptop in the comfort of your own home, study whenever you prefer, knowing you are building a business whilst you become even more skilled.  In other words, you could be paid to learn your trade! And what do you get when you qualify… hopefully, a ready-made, successful business!

I have given myself a 2-year time frame in which to “qualify” myself from this online “course”. Given the amount of educational supplied by the SFM, I firmly believe that one day in the next 10 years or so, the SFM DEA may even qualify as an official tertiary course with recognised qualifications. So get in fast before the price goes up to a University Degree!

You can look at the SFM in two distinct ways:

Firstly an education platform where you learn marketing, commerce, information technology, social-media studies, communication and website building to name a few subjects, and secondly, a business model where you can earn while you learn… check out the next section on the SFM Business Model.

I do not intend to be reliant on the SFM in the future. In the long term, I want to be able to promote my own ideas and products as I develop them. In the meantime though if the income from promoting the SFM affords me more time to work on my education, then I am all for it!

EDUCATION

Listen to a beautiful speech for college students from Denzel Washington.

SFM Business model

The Six Figure Mentors, despite the name, primarily help you promote yourself or your products or indeed, other peoples products online. The Mentors teach you how to unwrap your potential and discover your own online presence, thus creating your own digital business. They hope that you too will create a six-figure income from success in your own business.

What sets them apart is the fact that Stuart and Jay have been able to, not only teach you how to become an entrepreneur and market your own products and services, but also how to encourage others to take advantage of the same online education! By promoting the SFM education system itself, more and more people get the opportunity to fulfil their potential. It is all about sharing the knowledge the Mentors have and providing value to other people.

If you think another person could benefit from what you are learning, you are likely to naturally recommend the SFM. If they, in turn, purchase a course via your recommendation then you may be eligible for a commission based on how you positioned yourself in the SFM/DEA when you started.

Is it flawed? Not if you are Stuart or Jay! Look at it from their point of view… Just recruit an army of like-minded people who spend their own money promoting your product! It’s bloody ingenious but is it worth it for you….

MY INITIAL CONFUSION!

Many see the SFM as a purely money-making business or get-rich-quick scheme. I can attest to you that this is not the case, as I am not about to give up my day job just yet! In my early days of listening and reading all the SFM hype and advertisements, it was, however, hard to ignore that the underlying purpose is to become financially free!

It has taken at least 12 months to sort out in my own mind, what the hell I am supposed to be doing! The dilemma was, do I concentrate on making money, or giving value? Could I do both?

I came to the conclusion that one will inevitably follow the other. I am reminded of when I was 16 years old (no wisecracks about how good my memory must be, please!). I was interested in discovering what my dentist actually did from the other side of the drill so he kindly invited me to watch him work. He was not flashy or “well to do” but he did have a nice car! At one point I was intrigued as to how much dentists actually made (in the NHS in UK in the 1980s).

I clearly remember him smiling as he said the following: “Mike, you do not need to concern yourself with how much money anyone makes! You are about to embark on a career that will be so fulfilling that money will be a secondary consideration. The moment you think about making money instead of helping others is the time you should get out of the profession”! He still did not tell me how much he made!

The older and wiser I get, the more I can relate to his answer. At the first two jobs I applied for, I did not even ask about the remuneration (naive I know) but I gained so much by the way of experience, that it set me up for more opportunities in later years! There have also been many times where I have treated patients pro bono, and to be honest, they were the times where I felt the richest!

You need to get clear in your mind that this whole system is not all about expedient financial gain, per se. If you are prepared to help others then good fortune will befall you, given time. Whether that is just the feel-good factor or physical or financial, it does not matter, as you will gain from it all!

So pay it forward rather than back!

The sooner you get to grips with this concept of giving value to others, rather than making money for yourself, the quicker and more fulfilling your return on your investment will be!

AFFILIATE MARKETING

The crux of the business is affiliate marketing which has been around since the 90s. Like me, you may also find this concept a little odd at first, until I looked at it from this perspective…

Imagine the worker bee (you and me) pollinating flowers (placing adverts) and delivering pollen (leads) to the hive (SFM) which somehow converts them to honey (sales). The hive becomes enriched and grows and the workers get their fill of honey (commissions) but will, however never become the queen!

If you are a smart bee you will take on board what the queen says and does, then branch out and start your own hive, but in the meantime, you just work to earn your commissions. The saving grace is the fact you can work when you want. If you rely only on this model as your sole income though, you are still, in effect, working for Stuart and Jay and hopefully the hive will survive!

But why choose the SFM?

What the SFM and DEA give you is a chance to learn from a team of experts who have been there and done that. Being entrepreneurs, they have come up with the ‘system’ whereby they take a novice (me and possibly you), instil a belief or mindset that anything is possible (self-belief) and encourage you to tell other people about the benefits of joining! For me personally, the benefit has been the production of a couple of websites to promote my own messages and products.

The Mentors not only provide a thorough internet business education but also offer high-end programs and more importantly, recurring memberships. This means that when you are paid a commission, there is a fair chance that you will also receive on-going payments for as long as the client, whom you referred, remains with the SFM.

So unlike a simple affiliate program, the SFM regard themselves (and quite rightly) as an educational platform you can also promote to others, and not just a series of individual small products to resell.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

I believe the main reason why you would choose the SFM over any other program is their ability to offer larger commissions.

It can take a long time to sell many ‘little’ items to make a substantial profit. This is where the SFM differs greatly and stand out from the crowd, as they give you the opportunity to promote their “high ticket items”. These are expensive memberships to their mentoring courses, for which you could receive as much as 40% commission. This can amount to multiple thousands of dollars, but bear in mind that this does not happen routinely! However, it is certainly something to consider when researching alternatives to the SFM.

How you get placed when you initially join will set you up for any subsequent commissions and is based on which level of DEA membership you choose to start with.

It is a bit like going fishing! It doesn’t cost much to sit on the dock of the bay catching loads of tiddlers. You may be happy catching small fry, and you will eventually get a good feed, but ask yourself this… would it not be more advantageous to invest in a boat that can take you to deeper waters and catch the big one from time to time? This will also feed you and your family more quickly!

There are downsides though…

FINANCIAL RISK!

Joining most affiliate programs is often free but if you want to take advantage of these relatively big payouts from the SFM and DEA, you will need to invest in some quite expensive memberships. i.e apart from gaining the education from the courses and programs, you are also paying for the privilege of promoting their system.

You must understand that this is the financial risk taken on your part. Just how much risk, is up to you!

There are two areas to consider. Firstly the Six Figure Mentors (SFM) and secondly the Digital Experts Academy (DEA). You will be asked to make a decision on both, shortly after making your application. Yes, it is confusing and you may feel a little bit pressured but hopefully, this information may help.

You can play it safe with an SFM “BASIC” Membership and there is nothing wrong with starting at this level. As discussed in the fishing analogy, it may just take you a lot longer to achieve your goals!

This goes for anything to do with marketing in general. You will soon find out (or already know) that paid advertising trumps free advertising no matter what you are selling or promoting!

The SFM “ELITE” Membership comes with accelerated learning courses and all the experience of mentors such as Justin Woolf. Personally, I chose to come in on this level, and believe this to be a ‘no-brainer’ if you are serious about changing your life! The level of training at this level is unsurpassed and there is no comparison to any of the free training offered on YouTube (no matter what some people say).

The SFM allows you access to all the information you need to become an entrepreneur in your own right, but the DEA is what you need to join, if you wish to take advantage of the affiliate program and start earning commissions for promoting the SFM education packages to others.

You can check out the DEA options here.

They offer you the choice of which commission base you are comfortable in investing. The more money you spend initially on your membership, e.g. DEA Silver, Gold, Platinum or Black, will determine what percentage commission you receive in the future. The higher the DEA membership, then the larger the commissions are, throughout your time with the SFM This ranges from 10% to 40%. Yes, they would like you to spend more but you have to be comfortable with your own commitment.

Remember, this is the financial risk YOU take, not the SFM!

Personally, I jumped in with (DEA) GOLD. In my circumstance, I could not justify investing any more $$$ (for DEA Platinum and Black memberships), as I could not see the benefits of personalised branding for me at this point in time. Things may change and I may upgrade later if all goes well. However, saying that, these two advanced packages may be just what you are personally looking for, especially if you wish to accelerate your education and personalised branding!

So, unfortunately, I cannot offer you advice on the more expensive memberships, as I have had no experience with them. However, you can check out this link for more information and send me an email at mike@mylifestylementor.com so I can arrange the appropriate Mentor to get in contact with you.

IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE!

I agree. I was utterly surprised initially and was second and third guessing whether to invest my hard earned for what seemed like a gamble. But bear in mind, although investment in these memberships may seem like a gamble, so are the alternative business opportunities like investing 100s of thousands of dollars on a franchise for a fast food chain or playing on the stock-market. Look on the bright side though, you will be in possession of a business that you can take anywhere in the world and work on it at any time you wish! Now that is ‘freedom’! You just have to put a value on it yourself!

Please don’t think that just by paying the big bucks you are automatically entitled to the commissions and success! You still have to work at your business and get the customers to your “virtual” door. The SFM just show you the easiest ways to do it!

I initially also thought that paying higher fees for these memberships would position me behind the financial eight ball, so to speak, but I have come to realise that it will eventually enable me to leapfrog my competitors i.e those struggling to come to terms with all the disjointed, unprofessional, undermanned and undersupported, “free” courses out there!

I have learned two important lessons over my lifetime…

Firstly that “you get what you pay for”

and secondly,

“nothing in life is for free”!

I stand by these thoughts! You can read more about the business issues in the section below, titled: “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly“!

Marketing

Imagine you have bricks and mortar business, i.e. a shop. When someone walks through the door, browses around and perhaps leaves without purchasing anything, you have just lost a valuable ‘lead’!

It has been shown that a customer can take up to 7 interactions before they purchase a product or service!

You cannot rely on a person to visit your store 7 times with a normal shop. If you don’t engage them the first time and give them value, then there is a fair chance that they will not return.

However, with an internet business, this is totally different. As soon as that person comes to your virtual front door, your primary function should be to request their email address by offering them something for free, such as the report Stuart I will show you in a minute.

They consent, and you now have a very valuable piece of information. You can then start building a relationship with these ‘leads’ who will hopefully turn into loyal customers, over a period of time. All this can be set up to occur automatically.

You are therefore at least 7 times more likely to “make a sale” than someone who has invested possibly tens of thousands of dollars in a business they have to be present, day in and day out for just one fleeting, moment of contact.

Is your lucky number 7…

Ideally, you can choose to sell your own services or products, but if you are not in a position to do so,  you can become an ‘affiliate marketer’ where you promote other people’s products for a commission.

In the case of the SFM, all the information you will need is readily available in one place. They provide you with all the training and paraphernalia you need to promote their Education Courses and Programs. (Learn more about this from the Business Model section above). You just have to customise it to your particular needs.

As an example, look at this bold advert offering you a free report or E-book that you can “Download Now!”. This is the non-spamming way to collect a person’s email.

Don’t click on it yet though!

Collecting prospective customer’s email addresses to build your list of eager followers (to whom you can promote your products and services in the future), is the single most important skill to learn as an internet marketer or entrepreneur!

I must confess, I did not design this ad, nor the video presentation (which you will see after clicking the ad) and the report that you will receive. Can you imagine how much work it would take to get high definition photos, photoshop graphics, find the correct font and content to make people click on the ad, let alone the actual video and written content? Trust me when I say a damn lot!

The SFM does this for you and since the quality of your marketing materials is critical for success, you are well placed to be receiving the most up to date, high converting advertising advice and materials. This is where the SFM are a cut above the rest.

Behind the scenes, they are constantly developing new strategies, testing and retesting them to see how they convert (i.e. turning prospects into sales).

SO HOW DOES THIS BANNER ADVERTISING WORK?

Customising these ready-made templates, makes sure any future commission comes to you!  The process is quite simple but took me a while to get my head around it…

When you join the SFM (or any other company you wish to promote) you will be given a personal identification number (ID) or “AFFILIATE LINK”.  If a customer, anywhere in the world (a few more available customers than your corner shop!), clicks on your ad and purchases a product, then your ID is recognised and commission automatically gets credited to you.

In the case of this particular advert, I have created my ‘link’ by just filling out a few details on my SFM ‘Dashboard’ and then inserting this link on my site or social-media page.

It sounds very technical but if you can “cut and paste” then you will be able to do this easily! If you cannot cut and paste then you probably may be better off decorating cakes or going fishing!

If anyone were to click on the advertising banner, they will be taken to a “Landing Page” where Stuart presents a small video about the report. Again, this all happens automatically after you set it up with the assistance of the support gurus.

When someone is interested, they leave their email and receive the report via a ready-made “Thankyou Page”. In the meantime, you have just collected a prospective customer’s email, via which you can communicate or advertise to them at any point in the future.

Just to show you that the link works, after you click on the advert, take a look at the address bar in the browser (at the top of the page) and you should detect “mikerach2110” somewhere in that string of letters and numbers. This is my personal affiliate ID and is linked to my individual membership. (Don’t copy this ID as the results of all your hard work may come to me!).

If you or any prospective customer/client where to purchase what I (or Stuart in this case) are selling, then I would receive a commission.

The beauty of this particular system is that once you are set up, it is fully automated. All you need to do is fill out a template, upload your mugshot and put the link on your website. You then have the fun part of figuring out which prospective customers to advertise to!

I hope I have described the concept of ‘affiliate marketing’ well enough for you to gain a quicker understanding than myself. I chose this particular list-building picture from the SFM, as an example of how quickly and easily an advert can be set up and linked to your own website. Don’t get bogged down with how you do it at the moment, just reassure yourself that the tech guys are on your side, and will help you if it all becomes too intimidating!

I seriously encourage you to read the report if you have not already done so, as it will help you whatever you decide to promote.

There are many other teachers of affiliate marketing out there and many are totally free. They may also offer technical back up and support but often are overwhelmed as they do not have such a large team of IT technicians and researchers behind them.

The SFM’s support is second to none and the team usually respond within 24hrs if things do not go quite to plan. You can check out the whole team here (just another link I created via the SFM).

SURELY IT CANNOT BE THAT EASY THOUGH!

You are right, it is not that easy to learn everything but it is easy to become distracted and overwhelmed with the wealth of information at the SFM.

I have shown you only one of many strategies that the SFM teach you and it would be impossible for me to explain them all here. You just need to make life easier for yourself by becoming proficient at one form of marketing at a time!

The fact that the goal posts are always changing does not make it any easier and why the SFM is so powerful. They have a large team of researchers and technicians to keep pace with the ever-changing requirements of “legal” advertising.

I would not have dreamt that I have been able to set up something like this in just a few months! Now with my two websites up and going, I am becoming more confident with any type of advertising.

I seriously encourage you to read the report as it will help you whatever you decide to promote.

PSYCHOLOGY FOR SUCCESS

Given my scientific background, I did not pay much attention to the psychology of business and marketing, with psycho-babble words like ‘spiritual’, ‘faith’, ‘belief’, ‘meditation’, ‘visionary’ and ‘self-awareness’.  Until now!

Please do not under-estimate how important “Mindset” is, and how too easily, it is overlooked. I have come to realise that this positive way of thinking is necessary to tip the balance between success and failure in your favour!

You have to change the way you think before you can change what you do.

But who has the time to read all this ‘stuff’ when we are in a rush to change our life! Is having a ‘clear vision’ just a load of hocus-pocus or plain common sense…

Having the correct mindset is a big component of any new journey. The teaching modules cover a variety of topics to improve and exercise your mind to set the right expectations and ideals as you move into the digital lifestyle.

For your sanity, I will not rant on about the pros and cons of the training you will receive during your stay with the SFM. However, I will say that you should not get bogged down with all the books you are advised to read on this topic, as you can always come back to it after you are set up with the technical aspects of the business. Remember to keep this phrase in your psyche…”Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction”.

I found that I spent so much time reading about the psychology, that nothing was getting done physically. I am not saying it is unimportant, but rather that you have to get your priorities right.

For what it is worth, I try to consistently work a little each day and look back at what I have achieved for the past month, then give myself a pat on the back (or not, as the case may be). This may seem a little arse about face, as most of the teachings suggest making a goal and then achieving it. But in my case, I am so indecisive that the goalposts tend to keep moving!

I suggest, therefore, that I am not the best person to give advice on the psychological aspect of entrepreneurship and leave this to the Mentors.

Words of Wisdom.

I have chosen to take some information from my dashboard to share with you and I hope I do not get into trouble! They are just examples of what to expect when you put yourself in the correct frame of mind to achieve your goals.

Firstly, check out the 10-minute video of Stuart Ross as he is introducing the second teaching module. Time well spent.

Just click on the video player on the side

Secondly, I have attached a 30-minute audio recording of one of Jay Kubassek’s visionary “Wake-Up” calls broadcast from a radio station in the US. The weekly calls will become a source of inspiration throughout your time with the SFM and I suggest you pay more attention to these gems, over the heavy reading load, unless you are a true bookworm!

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

When I first heard the term ‘SFM Community’, it aroused the idea of some form of cult that would engulf me and my money, like the way certain Hollywood Stars get sucked into Scientology!  Everyone to their own, I suppose!

My favoured definition of ‘Community’ is “the condition of sharing or having certain attitudes and interests in common: the sense of community that organized religion can provide”!

It took me some time to warm to the SFM ‘Community’ forums and Facebook groups, as I thought that people would end up ranting and preaching the virtues of the SFM, how good the system is and how we all love each other, blah, blah blah!

I could not have been further from the truth. I just found interesting groups of people with the same problems and issues as I had. They were trying to find their own personal solutions and not at all concerned with extolling the virtues of the SFM high and mighty! I have now been a part of this supportive group for over 12 months and realise that immersing yourself amongst like-minded people, is of the utmost importance, especially when you feel alone.

Are you alone...

My family’s reaction when I introduced them to the idea of the SFM was, to be honest, decidedly underwhelming!

When I told them that I had found the so-called answer to spending more time with them, my wife thought I was absolutely crazy to get involved with, and I quote, “a money grabbing cult’!  My teenage kids just laughed and thought it was another hair-brained scheme for me to retire early!

They also could not fathom why I would think I needed to spend more time with them as they were sick of my dad-jokes, such as …

Q. “What type of bees produce milk?

Ans = ‘Boobies’!

All jokes aside, my family often felt as if this SFM thing was taking me away from them time-wise, as initially it seemed an all-consuming affair. If I have learnt anything, it is that you have to strike a balance. If like me, you already have a 9-5 job and a family, and you come home only to spend most of the evening wading through the teaching ’modules” and building your website whilst ignoring or delaying your home duties, then I think you are missing the point of why you may be doing this in the first place!

You must remember to take time out for the family. The sooner you realise this, the sooner your life becomes more settled. Make specific times for your study or activities and your learning will become more productive. Above all, don’t let it rule your life!

My initial months were a struggle! Many arguments were had where I had to convince my wife I was not going to cold call all our family and friends to join the cult, or purchase a carton of useless organic washing up liquid like so many pyramid selling schemes. It was not until I could show her what I was actually achieving (making a website) and she saw that I was happy passing all the milestones, that she came around to a form of acceptance rather than anger.

Wise words from one of the Mentors, Justin Wolf, suggested that we include and involve spouses and family simply by, for example, proofreading an article you have written or gaining their opinion on a colour scheme or font design for a webpage or checking your links work etc. I was surprised how great this advice was. The feedback was forthcoming and even though she still played the Devil’s Advocate by saying ‘what if’ this and ‘what if’ that, I mostly received positive criticism, especially when it came to picking up my spelling mistokes!

So my message to you, is not to lose sight of why you re doing this, and make sure you make time for your family. The results may just take a little longer (in my case 18 months), but at least you do not become ostracised. This slower approach works for me but your balance, between work and play, may be different, so just do what you are personally comfortable with.

If you are young free and single this is a moot point so just go for it as hard as you like!

Everyone needs support!

You may not get this from your family, for the reasons discussed, but you must not let the naysayers get under your skin. It is difficult to stay upbeat with all this negativity so close to home, and that is why you will benefit from the SFM community help and support groups.

So, unless you are blessed with a partner who is on the same entrepreneurial wavelength, then you will probably feel as if you are behind the 8 ball from the start! this is where the “community” comes in….

The SFM gave great technical support but as I have just described, initially, I felt like it was me against the World!  Self-doubt blended into blind panic and then into mild depression, especially when things just did not go to plan. I needed psychological support.

In ‘real’ life, I have friends and family to pat me on the back or tell me to get over myself, but on this journey, I seemed to be on my own!  Swallowing my pride, I crept out of my comfort zone and started chatting with others on the SFM forums.

I was pleasantly surprised to find many others in the same boat and even more who have managed to sail clean past the rocky shores. It may not replace the social support that a family member could bring, but it came a close second and has kept me going for this long.

I did note early that all of the comments from the SFM community were overwhelmingly positive, which is strikingly different to, say comments on YouTube for example, which is often derogatory, rude or crude! There seems to be an unwritten rule that if you don’t have anything positive or constructive to say, then say nothing. This is refreshing and helps newbies like me have the confidence to ask, what some people may describe, as silly questions.

Remember there are no silly questions, just silly answers!

I found everyone extremely welcoming. You join whatever group you want and immediately you are greeted by people from all over the world that you have never met and often from countries you have never heard of! They also have local geographical sub-groups set up. For example, I belong to the Australian “Down Under” group.  This is very helpful as they are in the same time zone and we can have a chat when it is convenient for both parties.

It is also comforting to know you also have the support of newbies going through the same uncertainties and doubts as yourself, as well as the advice of those who are a little further down the road.

The downside….

I found these forums are well monitored, almost to the point of being censored! One of my early concerns was with the “financial set-up” guru, Mark Hayes, who you will encounter within your first month or so via Skype messages, his favourite form of “communication”. I asked on one of the forums, if anyone else was having issues with him (read the Good the Bad and The Ugly part of this website for more details). Within a few hours, I was hurriedly pointed back to the SFM professional support staff for advice, rather than everyone else giving their two cents worth. This was annoying at first but I can see their point!

They tend to want the forums to be positive but it did annoy me at the time. I felt like I was back at school, being overheard asking another student what they thought of a particular teacher! I was then directed to the headmaster’s office for “clarification”! Anyway, the way around this is to send private messages after finding many likeminded people via the forums.

Another negative aspect is that if you are after technical advice you are probably better off asking the tech support in SFM or Digital Business Lounge. I have been redirected to the tech teams before, which I thought was a bit odd considering that I was only after other members’ opinions, but it is probably for the best as otherwise, it may be a case of the blind leading the blind (no comments about political correctness please!). They also do not want you to get the wrong or misleading advice!

The positive aspect of this censorship is that you rarely see any defamatory or rude comments. Respect is the buzz word and if you are going to go to all the trouble of joining and learning with the SFM why waste time slagging it off!

I have got over my road rage period where I thought the SFM owe me a life just because I invested in them, and now realise they are just the vehicle I need to take me on my own journey. One where I am now, not travelling alone!

Start your journey with this song!

Aviccis’ version of this song is played at the Momentum Days as Jay’s theme tune. I personally like this original by a wonderful singer called Aloe Blacc. Check out his YouTube channel and the original video with a very strong message about human rights!

Hint:

If you do ever become annoyed with something or someone, then take time to jot down all the details as a draft email but DO NOT SEND IT! Wait a few days, then read it again. I found that more often than not, I have either resolved the problem myself or it is no longer an over-riding issue or life-threatening dilemma. It works for me!

If you are still pissed off, just post it on a forum and see what happens!

A successful journey needs help from others. You are not alone!

THE TRUTH

THE TRUTH

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY

THE GOOD

1. One Stop Shop

If you are a novice who knows nothing about online marketing, product promotion or social media advertising, then this system is a great way to get started. If you are already a seasoned marketer then upgrading to the high-end membership of DEA  Platinum and Black is still a great option. Here you will learn about personal branding, with advanced marketing strategies to supplement and enhance your knowledge base.

2. Modular Learning

The “system” is based on a series of 5  steps or modules which you have to successfully complete before continuing or unlocking further stages.  This is a great idea as it prevents you from becoming overwhelmed with the amount of information available (see “The Bad” bits below). It also deters you from becoming sidetracked with information that initially, you may not need. From personal experience, I  was impatient and skipped a few of the technical modules. I then looked like a plonker when I later asked the support team how to perform a certain task, only to be directed back to module 3!

These steps are there for a reason – so you keep taking action and achieving milestones, rather than just thinking about it. If it were left to your own devices, nothing would get done, as you would not know where to start and what was important to get you on your way.

3. Live Webinars

Weekly and monthly ‘live’ webinars are a fantastic way of learning and interacting with your mentors and fellow students. The coaches actively encourage you to ask as many questions as possible. If you cannot be there (as they are often held in early hours of the morning in some parts of the world) then the webinars are recorded for your convenience.

4. Professional Support

There is a fantastic technical support structure in place. Both the SFM and the Digital Business Lounge (or the technical side of the operation) have comprehensive and timely personal support. Many “free” sites simply cannot offer this service, as they do not have such a huge professional support team behind them.

There will be many occasions when you do not understand what on earth is going on or you feel the need to be pointed in the right direction for a piece of information or clarification on any issue. The support team usually respond within 24 hours, and often sooner, depending on what time zone you are in.

5. Community Support

There are also many community forums that can be consulted instead of spending days, or even weeks, researching what to do on YouTube or Google!

The “community” as they call it, sounded like a cult, but really it is only a band of SFM members who bounce ideas and thoughts between each other without having to go through the support mechanism. Knowing other people are having the same issues as yourself (which is totally normal) is comforting, to say the least, as a problem shared is a problem halved!

6. No Products Necessary

Affiliate marketing is the primary focus of the business system that you can set up. This is perfect if you do not already have your own (or anyone else’s) products or services to sell.

I have, in my mind, always thought outside the square. I have a number of crazy ideas that I would like to share with the world and hopefully help others. However, I never had the knowledge to implement my ideas. The SFM is, from my point of view, primarily showing me how to become an entrepreneur, and harness the power of the internet to share my craziness!

My prime focus was not to make money from the SFM directly (i.e. by taking advantage of their generous commission structure as an affiliate),  but if a dollar is made by doing so, then it proves the “system’ works, albeit slowly in my case!

I honestly do not believe I will become a millionaire by promoting this system, but others do become high achievers, especially when they release their entrepreneurial potential.

7. International Momentum Days

Initially, you will be spoon fed basic but important information about any sort of online business. The further you get into your courses, however, you will realise there is so much more to know!  You become inquisitive and your thirst for more knowledge becomes exponential. This can lead to what they term as ‘overwhelm’, where there is so much information available, that you do not know what to do first. Literally, the whole process stalls or even comes to a “Oh I can’t do this” halt! This is why the step by step modules are so important.

However, if overwhelm does set in, then you may find yourself despondent and ineffective. This is where the Momentum Days come to the fore.

They are regular 1 or 2-day events, held in the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia, and all members are invited to attend. I urge you to do so as it completely lifted me from the doldrums l found myself in, about 6 months after joining.

These gatherings, where you actually meet the founders and mentors in person, are essential to give you a boost of confidence and the proverbial ‘kick up the arse’ you will often need. The photos in the “The Players” section above,  were taken in Brisbane in November 2016.

The sooner you get to one of these events, the sooner you will realise that it is not all ‘smoke and mirrors’!

8. Figure Shit Out!

Guy and Ilan Ferdman are brothers who conduct the live webinars for the ‘Elite’ memberships. They are straight talkers who started with the SFM like myself, only to branch out and develop their own very successful brand.

They are motivational speakers, commanding hundreds of dollars per hour for their personal advice.  This is included for free in Elite membership, and I implore you to at least go to this level if you are starting out with the SFM.

They are also independent advisors (never promoting the SFM, per se, during the fortnightly webinars) and encourage people to be original and true to themselves. i.e. do not blindly trot out the SFM templates that everyone else does.

Guy and Ilan are also Facebook advertising experts and have spent many years (and thousands of dollars) making mistakes, so you should benefit from their advice.

The Mentors can only hold your hand so far, and there will come a time when you will need to cut the apron strings and think for yourself. Guy and Ilan’s catchphrase is aptly named “FSO” or Figure Shit Out! The sooner you do, the quicker your education will progress.

It was the same for me as an undergraduate in the UK. Did I just want to know the bare minimum or would I do more research and actually strive to be an innovator, leader or pioneer! Guy and Ilan are superb at transitioning you from the sponge-like undergraduate to a free-thinking postgraduate!

The digital business environment changes so fast that it is impossible to keep up to date by yourself. You can try, but you will always be behind the 8 ball. That is what the development team at SFM/DEA is for. You are paying for their dedication and skills in adjusting to advances in technology and tricky compliance issues.

NOTE

The SFM and DEA make no apologies for the fact that their educational content and courses are also subject to change. This is a consequence keeping pace with the fast, evolving trends and technology of the digital arena.

I find this to be a major benefit to ensure you are always one step ahead of the rest.

THE BAD

1. Overwhelm

People, myself included, usually want to learn as much as we can and have the perfect website before we “put ourselves out there”! Unfortunately, if you take this line of thought, you will probably never get started, as there is just too much content on the SFM and DBL sites to learn in one go.I have been working at this for 18 months and only just released my website (check it out here)! I felt I needed to get everything right, for fear of embarrassing myself if a link did not work, or I had spelt something rong! This is not the way to go if you are in a rush to “make money”!

Initially, with the system, there seems to be an emphasis on your mindset, which is all very well if you are trying to make excuses for not doing the work. However, if you are already motivated to improve your life, then much of this can be avoided or at least delayed. Taking time out to make up stories of your perfect day, may have a place for those who do not know if they are in the right place, but to be honest, I think if you have got this far, a lot of this psycho-babble could be avoided in lieu of time taken to complete the nitty-gritty of the setup. It takes me forever to read a book, so it sort of defeats the purpose, if you are motivated already. You can always come back to this stuff later on.

Ironically, one of the main concepts the Mentors instil in you, is the need to take action, but you can get bogged down with learning so much, that you end up procrastinating and not achieving very much practically.

2. Pressure to buy from upsell

You will find after making your application for the free trial, that there is a hardcore upsell with a countdown clock for you to take advantage of the ‘offers’ available. This is designed for one purpose; to encourage you to make a hurried decision.

Cynically, I think it is their way of distracting you from the negative comments that you may find on the Internet, so you are committed to purchasing before you really understand what you are paying for. (Please read the rest of this site before making a decision)!

I found this very disconcerting and if it were not for the fact that I like to have all the facts before making a decision, I probably would have arranged an inappropriate membership level before the 30-day deadline, or indeed have pulled out altogether, as I found it particularly confusing at the time.I ‘Googled’ many sites with conflicting membership names and commission levels. There was even confusion between the SFM’s own site and what their Business Guru, Mark Hayes was telling me!  They have appeared to get their act together now, and it does seem a little clearer, but it was little comfort at the time!

With that said, I had to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort contacting several of the high-end players to clarify the inaccuracies on their own websites! This is rich coming from them, as they constantly encourage us to keep our websites up to date!

The process of deciding what membership to take out is called “positioning” and is important if you are looking to promote their system (as an affiliate). You do get better commissions, the more you invest at this stage (i.e. within the countdown period), but as I say, they place more than a little pressure on you to part with big dollars at a stage when you are most vulnerable to the hyped up sales pitch. I was not expecting to invest such large sums of money so soon after joining. It is worth it in the long term but initially, it was not easy coming to grips with the options.

In a nutshell, don’t be afraid to ask for more time to make your decision. The Mentors understand that if they have one more person promoting their system then they will make more money out of you than you will ever make through your commissions. So it is not in their best interest to let someone go for the sake of a few months procrastination.

It is like hooking a big fish then having to give the fish more slack line to run with before reeling it in! It would not make sense to cut the line prematurely if you think there is always a chance of landing it!

So ask them for more time, say another month, whilst you get your head around what you want to achieve. Also, make sure they will honour any of the discounted offers after this time.If they decline to help, then firstly, they are not as smart as I thought they were, and secondly, you can be safe in the knowledge that you have not been coerced into purchasing something that is not right for you!

3. Pressure to sell

What I personally get out of the SFM experience is the fact that I have learned how to create a website, host it on the internet, know how to promote my message (dental education in my case) and learn how to build an email list and track my followers. Unless you have your own products you wish to sell, there is always the choice of promoting the SFM itself, which is their primary goal!

It does not matter what you intend to promote as the education side of the system is generic. However, if you intend to concentrate your efforts on the business side, then you will need to understand the implications and be comfortable with the level of membership you initially decide on.

I was proud of the fact that I had spent so much time on my dental information website, trying to get everything just right, that when I showed it off to my Gold Membership Mentors, Fiona and Greg, I was expecting them to congratulate me on a job well done! However, what I got was a reality check, with them explaining why I would not make much money from the site!

I purposely only had one hidden link promoting the SFM as my primary goal was to give people value through my dental knowledge. They pointed out that I had probably been wasting my time on a site that would not ordinarily pull in the big bucks from the SFM, which is what I thought, they thought, I was thinking of doing!

I now see their point but I just did not think they realise that not everyone wants to go full bore on promoting the SFM. After all, as I see it, there seems to be a shift in the mentality of the whole system towards giving people value rather than just costly hardcore advertising and promotion.  Please don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this tactic, and if you are in a hurry to get ahead, this is, indeed, the best option. It just does not seem right for me at this moment.

Greg and Fiona however, were also refreshingly blunt in their approach of advising that I needed to concentrate my efforts on promoting the SFM with, in particular, paid advertising (which meant even more dollars).

I believe the business side, for me personally,  will come with time, after I have built a list of loyal followers from my dental authority site! Only then would I consider ploughing more money into making money!

4. Authority site confusion

What I think needs more clarification by the SFM was their idea of an “Authority Site”. I am supposed to extoll the virtues of the SFM, thereby attracting more people into the system. However, how could I talk about the benefits of the SFM if I did not understand it in the first place myself?I could speak, though, with authority on what I do know, i.e. dentistry. So I took it upon myself to reinvent the term “authority site” as My Area of Expertise” – much easier to comprehend!

Your area or niche may be, for example, the intricacies of car tyre design or how to grow particular organic vegetables for healthy eating or deciphering different mating calls of arctic moose! Whatever your field of expertise is, I believe you should impart your knowledge to others in order to help or entertain them.

After building a following of raging fans who like what you are saying and have come to know and trust you as an individual, you can then introduce them to the SFM and perhaps start promoting the benefits of joining. Having established a relationship with perceived value to them, they would be more likely to listen to your promotion of the SFM (which hopefully will result in referrals and eventual commission).

This is just my own plan of attack. I may be wrong but it just sits well with me as I am not a salesman.

So don’t let the Mentors make you feel that your sole purpose in life is to promote them and their system! There is so much more to the SFM than this.

5. Ongoing expensive subscriptions

If you become an affiliate of the SFM or DEA then you will need to pay a fee for the privilege. You can check out the fee structure here. Please be aware that this is an ongoing fee, so you could be up for a few thousand dollars per annum if you wish to keep promoting the SFM. This seems extremely expensive compared to most affiliate programs but on the positive side, not many programs give up to 40%commissions on high-end items!

You must also be aware that if you decide to stop paying your yearly subscription, then you will no longer receive the commissions. Just hope that you make more than you are investing (which is the same for any business) and you will not need to worry about the yearly expenses.

With this said, I believe there is not enough emphasis on how much you will need to spend in order for you get a return on your investment (ROI).

6. Business plan confusion

There is a stage in your learning modules that advises you to make a business plan. This sounds daunting, but most people find this beneficial and just involves a little common sense.

In conjunction with listening to Jay on the Orientation Workshops, you are asked to set up a Skype call to the business guru, Mark Hayes who will discuss your plan with you. The aim is to clarify your goals with respect to what targets you need to set to hopefully become profitable.

Communicating with Mark Hayes was the biggest pain in the arse task that I have so far encountered on my journey with the SFM!

OK, he may be a successful businessman in his own world but I could not believe the lack of professionalism.

Look at it from my point of view… I am considering spending 10s of thousands of dollars on a program I have only had 30 days to research (due to the ticking timer!). As I have previously discussed, I had initially noted many contradictions in the details of the membership and commission levels, so I sent a series of detailed questions to him via email. This was to clarify my thoughts in preparation for the scheduled Skype call, so as not to waste time.

To my dismay and extreme frustration, all I receive over a 2-3 week period (whilst the clock is ticking) was a series of generic blurbs, cut and pasted from various pages on the SFM site (which I pointed out were incorrect) and his own personal files. These “answers”, which were often also not even grammatically correct, showed an apathy for minor detail (which by now, you may have guessed, tends to get me going!). These confusing replies were also punctuated with smiley Emoji faces!

WTF!  Is he for real?

I was expecting professional, succinct answers to my specific and justified questions, and all I got was confusing and repetitious contradictions. I got the feeling that he had never previously been asked these questions and he was more concerned with being trendy!Feel free to contact me for a full transcript of the emails to see what I am talking about. Maybe it was me and the fact that I am overly pedantic about getting things right but, hell it is my money and why can’t he just pick up the bloody phone and get it sorted within a few minutes!!

I have still not had the Skype call as I am afraid of what I may say to him.  I did ask if anyone else could go through the business plan with me but unfortunately, he is ‘it’!

Maybe you will have better luck!

THE UGLY

1. Derogatory remarks from third parties

Internet naysayers are constantly portraying SFM/DEA as being a scam or pyramid or multilevel marketing scheme (which I believe in many countries is illegal). It is just is not true or at least, ‘FAKE NEWS’!I carried out extensive research before I decided to join and was very surprised at most of the hurtful comments I read, especially from people who were not involved with the system directly.

I understand the concerns you may have (as I also had them) and I have provided an example of a site that you may have already come across when researching the SFM yourself.  They have some valid arguments but only show one side, i.e. looking at it from the get-rich-quick point of view, rather than understanding the value of the education available to you.

Below is a link to a major blast on the SFM by a gentleman called Ethan Vanderbuilt who, much to his credit, surfs the net looking for scams. He has not joined the SFM and has decided to post an article written by someone else called “The Finance Guy”. This ‘guy’  also confesses to not being an SFM member! I can only assume they base their opinions on the hyped up advertising and promotional content available on the net, rather than carry out an informed, accurate fact-finding mission!

It is a like slagging off a book that you have not read, just because you did not like the introduction or the cover! What was that old proverb again!

Please also read all the comments after their article, which even includes an interesting yet disturbing, personal attack on a lady called Sandra Lemming (who I recognised as being part of the technical support team of the SFM).

Anyway, when you have people making personal attacks on others who they either do not know or have had no experience with, leaves me wonder if they have any professional integrity at all, but I am sure you can make up your own mind!

http://ethanvanderbuilt.com/2017/01/02/six-figure-mentors-scam-yes/

I have tried to answer the concerns raised by the article and give an opinion based on parting with two years worth of memberships, and what I have been able to achieve so far. I have not made a cent back on the business side of things, as I have been concentrating on enriching my digital education through the SFM.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

There are a few things I think you ought to be aware of whilst you perform your ‘Google’ research…

  1. Some opinions are made by people who have not become members or even bothered to take part in a free trial. They obviously cannot be aware or understand how much information is actually available, so it is hard to fathom how they can paint a full picture for you!
  2. Please be aware that when you find someone making a disparaging comment about the SFM on a forum or article, check out what they may be promoting themselves! Many a time, I have seen an introductory sentence along the lines of “this is an unbiased opinion”, only to note that they provide a link to an alternative program or system for which they receive a commission!  Smart but misleading!
  3. I do believe that the SFM themselves, are to blame for some negative opinions, due to their sometimes misleading advertising. They can give the impression that “you too can have a successful business just by joining” or this is a “turn-key business ready-made for everyone who joins”. These claims are plainly not true and I have suggested to them that their promotional materials be updated to reflect today’s savvy consumers, who are fed up with this “in-your-face”, fantasy advertising.
  4. Remember that throughout life, you are more likely to hear from the people who have had a negative experience!  Has anyone ever told you that they had no problems having their wisdom teeth out? Probably not, but I bet you have heard many stories from those who may not have had a favourable outcome!

2. Profit is an ugly word

You may have noticed when reading my site, here (which is intended to give you an honest, ‘warts and all’ opinion of my experience over the past few years), I have been upfront with who I am, and the fact that I am a bona fide member of the SFM.

I have made no claims that you will have a profitable business, or be successful in life, or indeed make a six-figure income, or drive a Ferrari or go on overseas holidays, as I just do not know if you will!

You may also note that there are disclaimers in place, which should be on all sites promoting any form of business. This is a normal part of the compliance regulations from Google, Facebook and Youtube to name just a few platforms. If you fail to do so, your site can be ruled non-compliant and taken down by the Google Gods. So, those that believe that showing such obvious warnings prove that people are trying to mislead you, could not be further from the truth! It is quite the opposite, in that they are making prospective customers well aware that whatever they are promoting, may not be for everyone. It is a morally sound procedure which hopefully will remove true scammers from the ‘Net’!

Many naysayers still carry on about the business side of the SFM rather than the education, but as you have found out from the advertising, the lure of financial freedom is very powerful. As I have suggested elsewhere on this site, I agree that the SFM advertising has in the past been predominantly based on financial gain rather than education. I believe this to be a major flaw in the SFM’s promotional ethos, but I can also see where they are coming from. After all, one of the main reasons for starting an internet business for yourself is financial gain yet people believe you must be scamming if you offer such an opportunity. If you were looking to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in, for example, a ‘Fast Food’ Chain Franchise (mention no finger-lickin’ names!), look at why you would be considering it at all… would you really be primarily focused on giving people a healthy nutritious meal or making a profit for yourself? It would cost a lot more than an SFM membership also!

I also view the fact that the SFM founders are making a massive amount of money from other people promoting their system, as just a “crowdfunding” exercise on steroids! Apart from making them even richer, I have the possibly altruistic view, that some of our membership fees go towards improving and expanding the education platform so that you, and many other people in the future, can receive a contemporaneous and comprehensive online education. If you so happen to make a profit whilst you do so then it is a win-win situation!

3. It is your choice

What I have come to realise, and you should too before you part with your hard earned, is that you are also buying into an education system where you are being taught the intricacies of creating your own online business. What form this business takes depends entirely on you and your entrepreneurial skills. You do not have to promote the SFM and get a commission from them, however, the fact that you have this choice, could be one of the reasons you may have chosen them over their competitors in the first place.

The SFM gives you the choice of focussing on giving people value in their lives or just try and make money from replicating the business side of the system. I chose to do the former with my website called www.quizadentist.com where I offer a free service to people throughout the world by answering their oral health concerns.

I can now also manage my websites myself without paying anyone else to do so and I have the skills to develop more sites if needed, so I think that is money well spent!

Could I have done this without the SFM? Probably, but having all the information in one spot is ideal for me and has saved months or even years of searching for the perfect teacher (and we all know they do not exist).

I look at it from this point of view… I could either be a 52-year-old with a full-time job or a 52-year-old with a full-time job and 2 websites designed by myself giving value to others! Ask yourself what you want.

If you wish to concentrate on the SFM business model (where you are an affiliate for the SFM education courses) then again it is just a choice you make. However, it is not cheap and you must invest in your business to reap the eventual rewards. This philosophy of reinvesting is the same for any business, be it digital or not!

4. Costs are relative

If you went to a TAFE College or School or University to get an education, on whatever you were looking at studying, you would expect to pay a course fee (in most countries in the world).

Why is it then, when people wish to improve their digital or internet skills online, they think it should be free and think people are scamming if they charge a fee!

You rarely get anything in life for free and I am a firm believer in the ethos that you often get what you pay for! If you want to pay peanuts, there is a fair chance you will get monkeys!Think of some usual costs when starting a typical business.:

Premises (purchased or rented), staff wages, goodwill, franchise agreement, business licences and registrations, equipment purchase or hire, furniture, office setup and furniture, ongoing training, advertising budget, and legal fees to name a few just off the top of my head. Also and probably most costly is your valuable time away from home, on a daily basis!

This could run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars; ask me how I know!

Now look at an online business structure or presence:

A computer, an internet connection and an advertising budget! (Obviously, you need to factor in shipping and handling costs if you are selling a physical product but the costs are still significantly lower).

So an online business could be started with next to no costs, relatively speaking, especially if you seek “free” training from many sources on the net. Please note that with the free sites, your business may just take a lot of time and probably more frustration, with non-responsive, overwhelmed support staff.

However, if you want to accelerate your learning and increase your chances of online success, then you should seek out a recognised training facility, but don’t be surprised if they charge a fee!

If you wanted to improve your golf, would you go to a recognised professional golf coach or just listen to every Tom, Dick and Harry on YouTube? I know which the smart choice would be!

Paying for your education should not be looked upon as a cost, but rather an investment in your future!

5. Don’t Be Afraid

If you want to discuss anything before you join, feel free to contact me. However, I must warn you that I am not a trained ‘salesperson’ and have not got the gift of the gab (this paragraph even took me a few weeks to write)!  I could just have a chat and see if I could be of any assistance. I have realised, especially in my professional career, it really is a privilege to be able to help others when they have the courage to allow someone into their life and discuss what their concerns are.

You will not receive a hard sell or promotion from me but rather a sounding board for your concerns. I cannot say if you should or should not embark on the same journey I am taking, but to be perfectly frank, if you are reading this, I believe you are made of the right stuff, and perfectly capable of pursuing an online career.

I can be contacted by email here

6. The Ugly Truth

To recap, I believe that criticisms of the system are mostly unfounded. They often come from those who have not been privy to the high-end coaching, technical support and infrastructure that is behind the closed doors or are disgruntled customers who may not have taken or realised, the opportunities that this platform leaves available to them.

You can, however, make your own mind up, by choosing the free trial, Or, if after reading all the information on this site, you are still undecided, then just please choose one of the many free services out there!

Perhaps, by now, you have realised that this online education and business creation is not for you, and you are considering going a different direction with your life. This is perfectly fine and I am happy to have helped you realise that the SFM may not be your cup of tea!

After all, it really is up to you which path you travel down, or up!

Cheers, Mike

THE GOOD

THE BAD
